A start

The idea of a blog or webpage has been rolling around in my head since the middle of 2016. For a while, I had a simple page which pointed to my LinkedIn and Github profiles. That page itself was repointed from my domain name, because I was running it on Heroku. I realized after completing a WebDev bootcamp that because I am not currently doing what I what to, I need to be able to show others that I can. That was pretty clear in the software and web application development world, but it was less clear in traditional IT and networking. It is clear to me that since I have no formal education in technology that I will need to show what I can do first. More recently, after building a computer in September of 2018 and then finding a position with a telecom company in early 2019 and looking into how to advance, I started documenting some of the things I was doing in text files. Another part of my thought is that I want to make a sort of home wiki, since repeating steps is silly after taking hours to figure stuff out. So I have sort of a dual purpose as a portfolio for projects and a long-form way to show what I am able to do. In that light, I start, warts and all.
